Business and Application Experience

  • Retail wireless "go-to" guy for Cisco's Advanced Services Worldwide Wireless Practice. Closely engaged with many tier 1 and tier 2 enterprise customers on complex RF environment projects. Worked with Fortune 1000 retail accounts involving over 10,000 stores and hundreds of distribution centers. Helped several account teams win multi-million dollar, multi-year wireless networking contracts. Lead consultant for several large retail distribution centers where IEEE 802.11n technologies were successfully deployed.

  • Consult with executives, managers, and network engineers on complex wireless networking projects worldwide.

  • Previously responsible for helping Cisco partners in the southeast US understand and implement wireless and mobility technologies at their customer sites.

  • Helped drive many Georgia partners to attain or advance their Cisco Premier, Silver and Gold partner certifications. Responsible for maintaining partner knowledge and technical readiness on Cisco products and technologies. Directly responsible for assisting a large southeastern service provider attain Gold partner status in 2001 and a global service provider attain Gold status in 2002. Also held primary responsibility for two large Atlanta-based direct value-added resellers (DVARs) who attained Silver and Gold status in 2003.

  • Assisted executive officers in the definition and creation of a global training plan for a large, multinational telecommunications partner headquartered in Paris, France. Managed the technical aspects for the implementation and rollout of this plan for North America. Instrumental in helping the partner attain the Cisco Channel Partner program IP Telephony specialization.

  • Executed the Technical Readiness Plan for a very large, southeastern telecommunications organization and assisted them in getting their sales and engineering force Cisco certified and IP telephony specialized.

  • Worked as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with an international computer-based training (CBT) vendor developing CBT content for Cisco's CIT, BCRAN, ACRC, and ITM courses.

  • Lead technical consultant for a project working with a national cleaning services, landscaping, and golf course management organization with over 40,000 employees. Directly involved in determining solutions to upgrade and implement a company-wide, automated payroll and time and attendance system with integration to J. D. Edwards software running on AS/400 platforms. The company has over 350 sites throughout the United States.

  • Analyzed a large Novell network for a multinational financial management firm. Implemented a web-based network and application support documentation system which enabled 24x7 technical assistance via their corporate intranet. Planned their migration from NetWare 3.12 to Windows NT 4.0.

  • Designed, tested, and implemented a corporate-wide Windows NT 4.0-based DHCP Server solution for a major satellite video compression systems manufacturer. These DHCP servers assist the organization in effectively managing 110 "C" class IP subnets and over 4500 employee workstations at several international locations. Trained corporate technicians to maintain and expand DHCP installation. Created proposals to prepare the company for migrating from the 110 "C" class subnets to a few "B" class subnets.

  • Performed network analysis of a southeastern hospital system's Novell NetWare 4.10 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 networks. Made recommendations for network optimization and resolved problems they were experiencing.

  • Designed WAN-based multi-user database management systems for government entities such as the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Office of the Inspector General of the Navy.

Position: Solutions Architect (July 2007 - present)
Provide high-level wireless networking consulting services such as solution design, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting for tier 1 and tier 2 enterprise customers. Instructor for wireless networking solutions. Engaged in projects supporting some of the largest WLAN deployments in the world; one consisted of over 55,000 access points in over 2200 locations worldwide. Specialist in retail WLAN solutions and have worked with many leading retailers. Helped evaluate and optimize the WLAN deployment onboard one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

Position: Communications Architect (August 2006 - June 2007)
Provide leadership, feedback and direction for Cisco's worldwide field systems engineering teams, wireless business units, and other teams inside Cisco working on wireless networking solutions. Involved in supporting tier-1 and tier-2 customer sales teams and driving acceptance of Cisco's wireless solutions with enterprise and large commercial accounts. Airespace instructor for customers, partners, and field SE teams.

Position: Wireless Consulting Systems Engineer (February 2005 - July 2006)
Drive technical knowledge about wireless networking to our customers and systems engineers. Consult with tier 1 and tier 2 customers about enterprise wireless networking solutions.

Position: Channel Systems Engineer / Wireless Specialist (April 2000 - January 2005)
Provide channel engineering support and development for Cisco's US Channels partners in Georgia. Also provide wireless networking expertise on 802.11a/b/g technologies to Cisco's wireless partners and developers all over the southern United States. Facilitate courses and partner presentations covering all of Cisco's products and technologies. Previously provided similar support for Cisco's service provider and network service provider partners nationwide. Manage partner's technical activities involved in defining, implementing and rolling out profitable services and solutions to their customers. Assist partner's account management and systems engineering organizations in becoming Cisco certified and specialized and in attaining goals defined in their technical readiness plans. Nominated for US Channels Systems Engineer of the Year for FY2003 and FY2004.

Developed consulting business opportunities for the IT Engineering practice. Managed senior technical team members and the projects in which they were involved. Position: Internetworking Consultant
Performed highly technical WAN/LAN consulting engagements at various clients. Designed, implemented, and managed large-scale network projects involving Cisco routers, NetWare and Windows NT networks and all related products. Researched and tested new technologies to gain industry hands-on knowledge about emerging products which could positively affect existing or potential clients. Provided senior-level technical support and training services when required.

InfoVentures of Atlanta (a joint venture between BellSouth and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution), Atlanta, Georgia (April 1994 - July 1996)
Position: Network Engineer
Respected as an expert in the field of Novell wide area and local area network systems and analysis. Responsible for over one hundred and twenty Novell networked DOS and Windows-based personal computers. Managed a team of five Help Desk Coordinators and one System Technician in the daily operations of all computer-related procedures and maintenance. Created management-level proposals for new and replacement systems. Performed systems maintenance, testing, and installation. Analyzed and optimized network systems using state-of-the-art tools. Worked closely with Information Systems division in connecting Windows-based systems to Sun servers. Conducted interviews and employee reviews.

Decision Systems Technologies, Inc., Greenbelt, Maryland (April 1992 - April 1994)
Position: Senior Systems Analyst
Extensive experience in wide-area DOS-based database management systems. In charge of systems analysis and design for Paradox DBMS office automation projects at the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Division of Information Systems (DIS) in Rockville, Maryland. Also assigned to DSTI's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) contract. Managed the daily operations of the DSTI El Paso satellite office. Designed Drug Enforcement Information System (DEIS) software utilizing Team-Up, a multi-user relational DBMS with a fourth generation procedural language.

Position: Technical Support Manager
Successfully managed support technicians who performed international technical support and on-site installation and training. Designed and maintained a secure, bilingual bulletin board system for worldwide 24-hour technical support. Published technical support policies and procedures manuals, user manuals, technical reference manuals, and monthly technical support newsletters.

Successfully maintained a superlative training program for the DEIS software at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick, Georgia. Instructed sixty-three international law enforcement students.
